Our Part

MCSS is an active participant in the resettlement efforts of Afghans. To date, there have been over 1000 Afghans resettled in Austin. They face uncertainty in all areas of basic needs: food, long-term housing, medical care, employment, and education. We are doing our part to help the families adjust and overcome the hurdles to their new life.

MCSS provides Afghan evacuees with:

  • Food vouchers for Halal grocery stores

  • Grocery store gift cards

  • Clothing

  • Personal items

  • Baby items

  • Household good

  • Legal support

  • Financial aid

We are also focused on connecting families with the right resources to enable their independence such as helping enroll in, ESL classes, adult learning classes and family support services in Austin.
